PB #13: Fredericksburg

This Sunday during Memorial Day Weekend (I know this is being posted later than that… look for my last post explaining the timing of my posts for more information), I visited my friend Emily in Fredericksburg. I helped her move down there a few months ago, and we talked about doing a photoshoot in the future. She’s also in a band, and I’ve done photography for them at a few of their pop-up shows. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect when I drove down Sunday morning, but I was definitely looking forward to spending the day with her while also getting some more photography content.

The weather had been pretty dreary all weekend, with rain drizzle pretty consistent throughout, and it wasn’t too much of a difference Sunday. We did get pretty lucky with only sprinkles of rain for about an hour, and while it was extremely cloudy, the clouds actually lent themselves for some great cool tones and diffused lighting.

When I got to Fredericksburg and met up with Emily, she actually told me what she wanted to go for, which was a great relief of pressure to me, especially as I don’t know the area super well. She’s a musician, and wanted some good photos of her playing the guitar to share on her Instagram as well as at shows or for promo. Fredericksburg has a great small-town vibe, with cool brick and architecture all around. We decided to walk around town a bit and just stop wherever inspiration struck with a cool background.

So, without further ado, here are some of my favorite shots from the day!

And if you’re ever in the area, check out Mellow Mushroom for a delicious and laid-back meal– definitely recommend their sandwiches and pretzel bites.

Remember to check out my last post for a quick update from me about how blog posts will work this summer! Until next time 🙂
