One of the reasons I have been hesitant to practice my hand at using applications such as Photoshop and Lightroom is because of the cost. While Adobe offers some actually very fair deals, the monthly subscription has always felt off to me, and I would rather have the option to simply buy the package at a one-time cost.
Fortunately, after realizing I definitely needed at least the Photoshop program for a project of mine, I discovered my university has recently come to a campus wide license agreement for Adobe’s Creative Cloud software. This means that I’ll have access to all the Adobe apps I need without having to pay that monthly cost. (Of course, if you consider tuition costs, it’s not exactly “free”.)
Because of this, I can finally start learning the ins and outs of Photoshop and Lightroom, and I’m super excited to share that all with you guys. If you feel the same way I do about the monthly cost of Adobe software, check with your school or business– they might just have an organization licensing agreement you can take advantage of.
I’ve spent some time editing with Photoshop and Lightroom, and really just getting accustomed to the features and tools they provide that I didn’t have before when I was only using VSCO to edit. The latest two projects I was working on I really like how the edits turned out. With one, I used Photoshop to insert and emphasize reflections on water, and the other I’ve been practicing color edits and manipulating the color grading tool in Lightroom.
I’m still learning and workshopping, so I this post is going to be rather short, but let me know if you guys would be interested in seeing photo edits of future (or past) shoots using Photoshop and Lightroom.
Wish me luck in learning, lol. Until next time!
