Future Photoshoot Locations

So, I have a current “Dream Photoshoot Locations” list (see post here), but it’s not exactly realistic, especially not now when travel restrictions are still pretty severe. Even if they weren’t at the moment, I wouldn’t really like to travel out of the country when COVID is still rampant.

That being said, I do have a list of more minor dream locations, if that makes any sense. These are all places within the U.S., which to be fair can be pretty far away. However, given that I would love to go on a road trip at some point in the near future, and my sister Kate is completely down as well, they’re not all out of the question.

So, Dream-Photoshoot-Locations part 2, I guess, coming at you hot. Let’s get into it.

1. Utah Salt Flats

Alright, so starting out kind of far away from anywhere, but let’s go on a road trip, you know what I mean? I found out about the Utah Salt Flats, more accurately the Bonneville Salt Flats, with a TikTok I saw of a photography shoot taking place there. Very dreamy, but not in an overly done way. I’d absolutely love to take some editorial-inspired outfit pictures here.

2. Falling Spring Falls – Virginia

Coming in at #2 is a much more reasonable and realistic location. Falling Spring Falls is located in Virginia, so while it will be a bit of a drive, nothing too crazy. It’s an absolutely gorgeous waterfall destination, which looks amazing in any season– though I’ll probably wait until spring or summer for this excursion, just so water pics are an option as well. A great thing about this is that according to some reviews, there’s basically no hike to the waterfall at all. Not the best when you’re looking for a satisfying hike, but great if you have hair, makeup, and outfit done for a photoshoot.

3. Sunflower Fields/Farms – Maryland

I’ve actually done a photoshoot at a sunflower field before. However, I did it in late September/early October, so all the left over sunflower stalks were dead at that point. As “basic” as it might be, I’ve always wanted to shoot in a sunflower field, and given that there’s so many near me, I feel like I need to take the time to do a proper one. It’ll have to be saved for the summer, but that’s fine. They’re great for things like senior portraits or Instagram photos, which are always fun to do.

4. Patapsco State Park – Maryland

Patapsco State Park is in Ellicott City, Maryland, and a beautiful state park. I’ve never been there, but it has a lot of lovely nature to use as backdrops for photos. Beautiful greenery, waterfalls, lakes and streams, and interactive bridges scream photoshoot to me, and I’d love to shoot a sort of ethereal fairy concept here. It’s also not too far of a drive, so I feel like it could make a fun weekend excursion. (Not to mention it’d be nice to simply go on a hike here– I’m a sucker for interesting scenery.)

5. Moab, Utah

Would you believe me if I told you I’ve never been to the Grand Canyon? Now, #5 still isn’t the Grand Canyon, but Arches National Park in Moab, Utah definitely reminds me of it. It’s described as a “red-rocked wonderland”, and looking at any picture you’d agree. Not only does it provide the opportunity for some really interesting backgrounds in portraiture or editorial-style photos, but I’d also love to do some landscape photography here. Usually I’m not the biggest fan of landscape photography, but in an inspiring enough location, you really can’t help but snap a few pics.

This is just a list of five future locations for now, but all of them I’m really excited about. Of course, there’s amazing locations in every state, so I may have to make some more lists. What are some of your planned future locations, or even just your favorite locations to shoot at? Let me know below!

Until next time!
