Photoshoot Blog #1: Mall Parking Lot

Today, my sister and I headed to the parking lot at our local mall to take some pictures. I wanted some photos to post to Instagram, 1. because I haven’t posted on my personal account in a while, and 2. because I really wanted to post something with a caption about platypuses (don’t ask).

I’ve taken pictures at this parking lot once or twice before, and I really like to do so. We go to the roof level, which half the time is empty and the other half only has a car or two, so you have plenty of space. There’s also some cool stairwells and textures on the walls, so that always adds some interest without too much busy-ness. We went right around 4 p.m., which I’ve learned actually gives great natural lighting, even in the winter.

We had a great time, just having fun with the photos. I don’t think that the photos are technically our best, but with this shoot I really just wanted to have fun. I think in that sense, it was wildly successful; sometimes a photoshoot can just be a fun way to spend time with someone else. Here’s a look at some of the pictures we took:

Note that these pictures are unedited; as with all my photoshoots, for edited versions of some of my favorite pictures, check out my Instagram or VSCO.

I also deem this a great photoshoot experience for two other reasons. First, as we were taking pictures, a girl walking out on the ground below us called up to us and gave us a compliment– totally made my day, especially because she looked extremely cool. Light of my life. Second, we saw a group of boys taking some pictures and skateboarding. Before we had to leave, I went up and asked them if they’d be down to collaborate on some pictures some time, and they totally agreed. We’ll have to see if anything comes of it, but I’m excited at the possibility! Will definitely let you all know if that happens in the future.

That’s all for now– short post, but hopefully sweet. See y’all next time!
